On Friday, November 12, 11 hand-selected student ventures across the University of Michigan pitched their projects in order to recruit new members. Each team was given three minutes to pitch, and three minutes to answer audience questions. CasaIB (presented by Yousif Maan Askar)
CasalB is an E-learning platform for IB Spanish students, where students can learn and practice Spanish exams, while teachers can track practice. The team is currently working on their POC product and gaining customer feedback from local high school students. Going forward, the team is looking for coders to help build the next generation of the platform.
DiverseCity (presented by Vy T Tran Plata)
DiverseCity is an offline/online platform for people to share their wisdom and experiences with trainees and foster communities in medicine. DiverseCity has already started a pilot program and shown there is a hunger for this resource and collaboration. They are looking for team members to build a scalable platform to connect people, as well as additional leadership members.
Diet Stats (presented by Nate May)
DietStats is a multi-purpose tool that is a meal planner, nutrition tracker, grocery list aggregator, and recipe database. The product is specifically targeting working mothers as their customer base, since they are often time constrained, active on social media, and typically responsible for household food purchases. The team is looking for business resources, specifically members specializing in strategy, pitchbook assembly, and hiring.
BotNot (presented by Jordan Shamir)
BotNot is a Shopify app that allows retailers to discern between consumers vs bots and resellers, in order to solve the large problem of bots buying up retail products and reselling. The product ranks buyers on a bot likelihood scale, and prioritizes selling to the ‘most human’ buyers first. The team is looking for developers and social media people in order to expand the MVP product.
Automotive Future (presented by Charles Cappelletti and Enzhong Wang)
Automotive Future is a “student run resource for the future of the automotive industry”. The team creates articles on the development of the auto industry, focusing on new and emerging tech and research. Their next steps are looking to incorporate and generate revenue through ads, add professional workshops and job-seeking resources
Kurrant (presented by Patrick Burden and Nick Rojas)
Kurrant is a mobile app that is seeking “a better way forward in gay health” by making it easier for gay and bi men to log their sexual partners. The team is currently gearing up to launch their beta product in 2022, and is looking for developers, designers, and strategists to join the team in anticipation of launch.
MedPass NFT (presented by Kaveh Ashtari)
MedPass NFT is a blockchain-backed app to solve the problem of vaccine verification, without involving expensive independent verification by third party entities. MedPass seeks to generate cheap verification and establish verified vaccinated spaces. The team is looking for mentors on implementation challenges, specifically relating to data access and HIPAA compliance.
BECS Corp. (presented by Connor Bagby)
BECS Corp (Bagby Evolved Control Systems), is a control system meant to emulate the training of and real experience of using military systems. The team is seeking to enable enhanced battlespace reconnaissance, intelligence, and surveillance software.
Agriculture + Fishery (presented by Samriddhi Agarwal)
Agriculture + Fishery is a mobile application to inform and empower farmers with smart techniques for farming and agriculture. The app contains data on the best types of crops and soils for specific conditions, and handles real-time monitoring of changes in soil acidity and moisture conditions. The team is looking to add features like aerial monitoring and rain sensors to shut down irrigation, and is looking for team members with expertise in AI and computer vision.
HelixCases Corporation (presented by David Botos)
HelixCases is seeking to “help students find and stay at their dream job”, and hopes to be the answer to attract, onboard, engage, and develop hires. HelixCases’ tool allows firms to get unique data on how candidates think, and candidates to learn more about the firm by engaging with real business problems.The team is currently seeking web developers, and marketing specialists.
ScentKeeper (presented by Matthew Smith)
ScentKeeper is a product that seeks to collect, concentrate, store and selectively release scent molecules to save meaningful smells in order to trigger strong memories. Looking forward, their goal is to finalize and patent their primary Scent Camera product. The team is looking for chemists and engineers, and software developers.
