Develop essential data analytics skills at Business+Tech’s 2026 Datathon, presented in partnership with Deloitte. Through hands-on workshops and a collaborative team competition, students analyze real-world datasets to identify problems and build data-driven solutions. This program is divided into two parts: 1. Data Download Workshops (Jan 26 – 28): Advance your skills with hands-on sessions covering R, PowerExcel, and Python & AI—perfect preparation for the competition! 2. Datathon Competition (Feb 1 – 6): Interdisciplinary student teams tackle a real-world problem using actual data in a week-long, hackathon-style challenge. Compete for the $3,000 Grand Prize! The Michigan Business Challenge (MBC) is a campus-wide, multi-round business plan competition where student teams have the opportunity to win cash prizes totaling over $100,000 and gain feedback from serial entrepreneurs and investors. Student teams evaluate real ventures as investment opportunities and pitch an investment strategy to VC judges. Covid-19 couldn't stop this year's 4th annual Ross Datathon! Despite the virtual event, we had 170 participants analyze P2P lending platforms. Our students and participants faced unique challenges in a virtual environment that had many teams connect via online platforms for the first time.
